The airport of Santiago de Compostela is located 15 kilometres from the capital of Galicia. It is an international airport and the main airport in the province of Galicia. It is well connected to other main holiday destinations such as Sanxenxo, Ourense and Finisterre.
Santiago de Compostela Airport is a new, modern and comfortable airport, which has recently opened a new terminal which was officially inaugurated in 2011 and is designed to make traveling as pleasant an experience as possible when coming and going from Galicia. The two boarding gates, the waiting areas and the shopping areas are well distributed with plenty of natural light.
The baggage collection area is on a level below the check in desks. The first time you may get slightly confused as to which is the way to go to collect the bags as it is not well sign posted.
The toilets are, in contrast, well marked and they have a children changer and disabled toilets. The new terminal which will significantly improve the number of flights, frequency of aircraft and, in general, the service and comfort of passengers flying to Santiago. The new terminal, a modern structure made from glass, steel and concrete, makes the airport more attractive and comfortable!
Directions
To get to Santiago from the airport you can use the N-634a or take the A-54 motorways. A taxi from the airport at Lavacolla to the centre of Santiago costs around 20 ?. The bus service to and from Santiago is operated by Freire, with a one way ticket costing ? 3, and a return ticket costing ? 5. There are three stops in the city of Compostela: the bus station, train station and on the Calle Doutor Teixeiro. The bus also makes a stop in the town of San Lazaro. Buses leave every half hour from the airport, the first bus leaving at 6:45 am and the last at 00:45. It takes half an hour depending on your stop.
If you want to go from A Coruña from Santiago, you can do so with the connections provided by Travidi. Buses leave Santiago Compostela Airport and reach the city centre of Coruna at the Atlantic Hotel set in the beautiful Jardines Méndez Nunez gardens.
Parking and Car Rental in Lavacolla Airport
The car park in the new passenger terminal is located directly opposite the terminal doors. The car park is a green structure and is connected to the main building via elevators and stairs. Today it has 1,896 spaces spread over 5 floors: on the ground floor, P0, houses the bus parking, level P1, public parking and taxi stand, levels P2, P3 and P4, public parking. Finally in the last level, P5, is the parking for rental cars. Once fully open to the public, the international airport of Santiago de Compostela will have over 3400 parking spaces for vehicles.

They can also move smoothly through the airport due to the various measures taken when designing the new terminal:
